teach your dog to get on and off the couch
There are times when you want to share your couch with your dog. After all, there’s nothing better than snuggling up with your furry friend at the end of a long day. However, there are also times when you may not want your dog on the couch—such as when guests are visiting. By teaching your dog to both get on the couch and off the couch, you can have the best of both worlds!
In this video, KPA CTP Sarah Walsh is encouraging her dog Wrigley to get on the couch. At the same time, Sarah is also teaching Wrigley the opposite behavior—getting off the couch. Sarah begins by using a treat to guide Wrigley onto the couch. Once Wrigley is on the couch, Sarah clicks/treats. She then uses another treat to guide her off the couch. With Sarah teaching these cues simultaneously, Wrigley is able to learn each cue quickly and the difference between them!
