Each scholarship for the Dog Trainer Professional program is a credit towards the tuition of $2500 for US locations and 3000CAD for Canadian locations. Applicants will be responsible for the application fee ($50 or 50CAD for Canadian locations) and non-refundable deposit ($500 or 400CAD for Canadian locations), both of which will be credited to the tuition balance upon enrollment. Students are responsible for any travel and accommodation costs to attend workshops. The scholarship has no redeemable cash value.

The decisions for scholarship awards will be determined by KPA's internal Inclusion Committee through an assessment of each scholarship application submission.

In instances where there are more qualified applicants than available scholarships, the committee may also take into account the timing of acceptance into the program, with greater emphasis placed on earlier acceptance.

It is important to note that admission to the DTP program is a separate decision from the scholarship determination. Only applicants who have been accepted into the program will be eligible for scholarship consideration, and these applicants are required to complete the scholarship section of the application.

Upon admission to the Dog Trainer Professional program, applicants who applied for a scholarship will receive notification regarding the outcome of their scholarship application. Subsequently, successful applicants must secure their spot in the program by submitting a deposit.

No. You may not combine this scholarship with another KPA scholarship or discount for the Dog Trainer Professional program.

The Dog Trainer Professional program is designed for trainers with prior training experience and a familiarity with clicker training. Take our online self-assessment for a personalized recommendation.

We will assist all applicants in further determining the adequacy of their experience during the interview process. It can also help to compare related courses.

Applicants requiring additional preparation for acceptance into the program will be guided to our Dog Trainer Foundations course. They may also apply for a scholarship for this foundational course. Please note that scholarships for the professional program will not be reserved.

Alternatively, you can apply for a $250 scholarship toward your tuition from our Crowdfund, made possible by donations from the training community. As funds become available, scholarships of $250 each will be distributed to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are awarded a Crowdfund scholarship, you are still eligible to apply other discounts to your tuition, but you cannot combine this scholarship with the Crowdfund scholarship. Please note that scholarship money cannot be used for tuition deposits.

We have established a GoFundMe page to facilitate the collection and disbursement of community donations for training education scholarships to the KPA Dog Trainer Professional program. This fund shares the same objective as the primary scholarship. As funds become available, we will allocate scholarships of $250 each to eligible and accepted applicants for the Dog Trainer Professional program, following the same process and criteria as the main scholarship.

Apply to the Dog Trainer Professional program and indicate your interest in the scholarship by answering the scholarship question on the final page of the application. If you are granted scholarship funds from this initiative, you remain eligible for other tuition discounts. However, please note that the KPA Dog Trainer Professional scholarship cannot be combined with the Crowdfund scholarship. Additionally, be aware that scholarship funds cannot be utilized for tuition deposits.
