teaching trick behaviors: mic targeting with duration
Canine freestyle champion Michele Pouliot is known for using innovative trick behaviors in her entertaining routines. One of the foundation trick behaviors that she uses often is targeting an object with duration. In this video, Michele is teaching her canine freestyle partner Sake to nose target a microphone with duration so that it appears that he is singing.
Sake already knows how to nose target other objects with duration, so Michele uses one of these objects to remind Sake about the duration behavior. Once Sake warms up, by targeting the familiar object with duration, Michele transitions to asking Sake to target the microphone. Training Sake to target this new object, she does not focus on duration initially, but will add duration incrementally as Sake continues to target the mic reliably.
