Does your cat beg or swat at you while you are fixing his/her food? Station training, teaching your cat to relax on a designated spot, keeps your cat (and your appendages!) safely out of the way while you prepare your cat’s meal. Station training is also a wonderful way to engage with your kitty and strengthen your bond.
In this video, KPA CTP Erin Britton reinforces her cat for remaining on a platform while she prepares her training treats. Note that when Erin’s cat steps off the platform to swat at her, Erin waits for her to step back onto the platform and offers her a treat. Erin’s cat is learning that remaining on her designated spot instead of swatting will earn her tasty treats!
