Scotti clicks and rewards the puppy for sniffing around and exploring this unfamiliar environment. It’s noteworthy that she keeps all of the car doors open so that the puppy won’t feel confined. Once the puppy is at ease in this novel environment, Scotti introduces common car behaviors gradually: observing the car door closing, watching Scotti walk away from the car, opening the car door, and applying gentle pressure to simulate a seat belt. The goal of each step is to establish a positive connection between the puppy and the car, fostering confidence and comfort along the way!
