Sherrie Yuschak, KPA CTP is a member of the Karen Pryor Academy Faculty. She teaches the Dog Trainer Professional program and is herself a graduate of the program (2014). Sherrie is also a coach in KPA’s Dog Trainer Comprehensive course.

Sherrie is a Registered Veterinary Technician with 20 years experience. In 2011 Sherrie earned her board specialty in animal behavior, VTS (Behavior). Sherrie was the Veterinary Behavior Technician at North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine from 2012-2017. Her duties included supporting clients and training their pets using behavior modification within the Behavioral Medicine Service, teaching hospital staff low-stress animal handling techniques, and educating veterinary students to incorporate behavior problem prevention within clinical appointments. Sherrie also contributed to several canine behavioral research projects at NC State including those exploring external physiological monitoring device usage to: correlate observed dog behavior, improve assistance puppy testing, improve training and enrichment of shelter dogs and measure sniffing to streamline canine scent detection training.

Sherrie is an educator for Family Paws Parent Education supporting veterinary professionals. She is a Fear Free Certified℠ Professional (Level 3) and has collaborated on curriculum and standards development for the Fear Free℠ Initiative. Active in the veterinary community, Sherrie holds positions and maintains memberships with many technician and behavior organizations. Passionate about providing continuing education, Sherrie lectures at conferences, writes articles for publication, and teaches hands-on skills to veterinary professionals.
