April 2013 KPA CTP of the Month
Karen Mielke, Karen Pryor Academy (KPA) Certified Training Partner (CTP), was a member of one of the first classes to graduate from KPA, graduating in March of 2008. By then, she had already been training dogs for almost a decade, but wanted to take her career a step further by becoming credentialed as a KPA CTP. Karen says,“I decided to enroll in the KPA Dog Trainer Program to add credibility to my clicker training techniques and to raise awareness of the efficacy of this training method within my community.”

Karen and her sister, Lynne Stephens (former British World Agility Team member), opened their dog training facility in 2004 on a beautiful fifty-acre property and have not looked back.Their company, DogLogic Training, offers a helping hand to many pet owners and their eager pups. In addition to behavioral advice, DogLogic’s main offerings include instruction in canine agility as well as in the up-and-coming new sport of Treibball. DogLogic also offers seminars around the United States.

Karen credits her ability to provide dog training and other services to all that she learned from the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional Program.

These learning opportunities for our clients are possible in part because of clicker training techniques as taught through the KPA program

As a graduate, Karen continues to take advantage of what KPA continues to offer. “The post-graduate support offered by the Academy and its members to encourages and promotes my business' growth. My sister and co-owner/trainer here at DogLogic will also complete the KPA course this year. I have no doubt that two KPA CTPs concentrating their combined KPA skills will lead DogLogic to even greater success in the years to come.”
Karen hopes to extend the use of clicker training in her surrounding area and would like to improve some human/canine relationships along the way.
