- Summary
Karen Mielke is a co-owner and trainer at DogLogic, a dog training facility located just outside Statesville, North Carolina. At DogLogic she uses clicker training to teach Basic Pet Manners and Agility classes, gives private lessons, and advises clients on specific behavioral issues. Karen also enjoys teaching at dog camps and traveling around the country to present seminars with her partner. It is her goal to extend the use of clicker training in her surrounding area and, hopefully, help to improve some human/canine relationships along the way.
- Bio
Karen was born in England and moved to the US in 1978 with her American husband, Kevin. Moving around with her husband's job, she has lived in Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, and now North Carolina, where she plans to put down roots. Karen and her sister, Lynne Stephens (former British World Agility Team member), opened their dog training facility on a beautiful fifty-acre property in 2004 and have not looked back.
Karen has two grown sons, Khyle and Ian, and a daughter, Jennifer. Her present four-footed family consists of five cats, three of whom dropped by one summer day and simply took up residence, and four dogs. She dedicates much of her free time to further education, attending canine seminars around the country. Karen also enjoys competing in agility with her Border collie, Tag, a rescue, and with her two Cavalier King Charles spaniels, Tess and True. Her current project, Cheyenne, is a dog-aggressive GSD rescue. Cheyenne is otherwise absolutely adorable, and Karen says she is her best teacher to date. Cheyenne has led Karen into a deeper study of animal behavior, particularly aggression, and is teaching her how to track, a particular talent of Cheyenne's.
