Dani Weinberg lives in New Mexico with her husband, Jerry, and their German shepherds. She has been teaching dog training and doing behavior consulting for many years, and has trained and titled her own dogs in competition obedience, tracking, and herding. Dani is the author of Teaching People Teaching Dogs, published in 2006, and numerous journal articles about dog training and instructing.

Bio

Dani has a PhD in anthropology and was a university professor and an organizational consultant before becoming a fulltime dog trainer. She brings her knowledge about learning and communication to her work with dogs. Dani calls her practice "Dogs & Their People," and that captures her interest in helping people enhance their relationships with their dogs. Dani is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, and an Animal Evaluator for the Delta Society's Pet Partners program. She is also a Field Instructor for Paws With a Cause, a national organization that trains and places assistance dogs.

Facility & Location Information

Directions

My own training facility, Dogs & Their People, is located in Corrales, NM, on the northwest boundary of the city of Albuquerque, NM. Because it's not suitable for Academy workshops, we will be meeting at Enchantment Pet Resort & Spa, in Rio Rancho, NM, which is just up the hill from Corrales at 580 Quantum Road, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Our training room is climate-controlled (A/C and heating) and fully matted, with an adjacent bathroom and a small kitchen that we share with the Enchantment staff. Lunches for both days will be provided and are included in the program fee, so the kitchen fridge can be used for any special needs you might have. We encourage you to bring only one dog to the workshops, the dog you've worked with in your Web Lessons. If there are special circumstances that require that you bring an additional dog, you may wish to use the doggie daycare/boarding facilities available at Enchantment, at an additional charge. Next door to Enchantment there is a small park where you can walk your dog on leash, and down the hill in Corrales there are wonderful walking trails in the Corrales Nature Preserve, along the Rio Grande river. The entire area is quiet, safe, and has magnificent views of the Sandia Mountains.
