Canine Behavior Center and Doggie Daycare
As a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) at Hampton Cove Animal Hospital, I developed a strong interest in animal behavior and realized that many pet owners were struggling with behavior issues. I attended Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior (KPA) and became a KPA Certified Training Partner (CTP) in 2009.
Since then I have implemented low-stress handling and restraint techniques and a boarding enrichment program at our hospital. It has been exciting to see how these changes have improved the relationships with our patients. I believe that positive reinforcement training can truly strengthen the human-animal bond.
- Bio
I began riding horses at a young age, and developed a deep love for all animals. While working as a kennel attendant, I realized how much I loved working with pets and decided that I wanted to learn all about them. I received my degree in Veterinary Technology in 2004. Throughout my career, I have worked with many different species. I received invaluable experience from several internships, including one where I was involved with the rehabilitation of injured Kentucky racehorses.
