Rúnar Tryggvason owns and runs Töfralausnir Dog Training and Töfra Kennels along with Monika Karlsdóttir. Together they breed Icelandic sheepdogs, a rare herding breed from Iceland.
Rúnar is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP). He believes in having a good relationship with your dog. It is a joy for him to see a dog and owner having fun together while training.
- Bio
Rúnar was born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland. He has always had a strong interest in all animals, and has always had an animal in his home—parrots, fish, hamsters, cats, and more. When Rúnar met Monika, she introduced him both to dogs and to clicker training. He was amazed at how quickly and easily you could teach an animal obedience, agility, basic manners, tricks, and more.
After a few years of Rúnar learning clicker training from Monika, Rúnar and Monika decided to spread the word. They started out with a small group of people who had heard of clicker training, but did not know what it was. Since then, they have had many requests for clicker courses in Iceland, and have conducted several sessions.
In 2009, Rúnar decided it was time to learn more. He enrolled in the Dog Trainer Program at Karen Pryor Academy and obtained his certification. Today, Rúnar and Monika have their own dog training business and are working to expand it. One day they hope to have a permanent training center.
