- Bio
Grisha is the owner of Ahimsa Dog Training, which she started in 2003 after volunteering at the local shelter, attending various workshops, and reading every book she could get her hands on. She loves working with dogs and their people, and specializes in aggression. Grisha offers behavior modification for reactive dogs and prevention through puppy socialization. From its humble roots in 2003, Ahimsa is now a full-service facility, with an online dog store and eight different trainers contributing to its success.
Grisha originally started clicker training on her own, with basic information from a book. A traditional instructor once told her clicker training was a method that didn't work, one that just added gadgets for no reason. In her house one day, Grisha decided to try some clicker training with a juice lid as the clicker. She was amazed at how quickly her dog picked up the trick—to look at her friend on cue.All of Grisha's classes use the concepts of clicker training in one form or another, though the actual clicker box is optional. Most people see how useful clicker training is right away, and even the doubters start using it.
First and foremost a teacher, Grisha has a master's degree in mathematics from Bryn Mawr College. She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) and a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner. Grisha graduated from the Karen Pryor Academy's Dog Trainer Program; her teacher was Terry Ryan.
